Just after 4:00pm, Wednesday, February 26, 2020, North Douglas County Fire & EMS was dispatched to a barn fire near a residence in the 3000 block of Cox Road in Yoncalla. Crews arrived to a fully involved barn burnt to the ground. Fire crews contained the fire and removed any threats to nearby structures. The barn was ignited by an escaped debris burn.
This incident is a reminder to all that even during the cold and wet seasons, debris burns can cause major damage. Always monitor your burns, and be prepared on site with water and hand tools to contain the burn.
