At 3:46pm May 7, 2018, North Douglas County Fire & EMS was dispatched to a structure fire at 195 Williams Rd. in Yoncalla at Valley View Mobile Home Park.
Fire personnel were on scene within seconds after assisting with a medial call just a few houses down. Fire personnel advised dispatch of a partially involved structure, with fire spreading to a nearby vehicle. Nearby homes were evacuated due to heavy fuel loads and fast moving fire. First in fire crews were able to establish a water supply and kept the fire from spreading to multiple nearby structures. Multiple propane tanks venting made it difficult for fire crews to extinguish the fire due to the constant add of fuel to the fire. A half hour later, the fire was contained to the structure and crews moved into overhaul.
Red Cross was notified to assist the homeowner and his dog due to the total loss of the structure. North Douglas County Fire & EMS was assisted by Oakland Rural Fire District, the Douglas County Sherriff's Office, and Douglas Electric. A total of three engines, eleven firefighters, and three EMT's responded to the fire. Nobody was injured, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
