Motor Home/Brush Fire MP 160 I-5 South

At approximately 8:10 p.m., DFPA and North Douglas County Fire & EMS responded to a vehicle fire near I-5 MP 160 southbound. Crews arrived on scene and found a fully involved motor home that spread to the surrounding wild land fuels and was burning up a steep hillside. Crews estimate that the fire burned 1.5 acres of grass, brush and trees, but more accurate mapping will be conducted Tuesday. Firefighters will remain on scene of the I-5 MP 160 fire for most of the night, mopping up hot spots and securing control lines. ODOT also responded to the I-5 MP 160 Fire to assist with traffic control. Due to fire personnel working on the side of the freeway and rolling debris from the fire, I-5 southbound traffic was detoured through Drain and Yoncalla for several hours.
