Double House Fire Cedar St. Yoncalla

At 8:45 am this morning, North Douglas County Fire & EMS was dispatched to a structure fire in the 200 block of Cedar Street in Yoncalla. Fire crews arrived to a double-wide manufactured home fully involved. Crews on scene requested mutual aid from Oakland Rural Fire District and other neighboring fire districts for district coverage. The heat and fire debris from the double-wide manufactured home was extensive, and as a result, the neighboring house also caught fire before fire crews could put in place measures to protect it. Fire crews were able to knock down the fire on the second home and continued fire suppression on the first house for the next several hours.

A female escaped from the first house with burns from the fire and was transported to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend by Bay Cities Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The initial house that caught fire is a complete loss, along with the loss of several animals that did not escape the fire. The second house sustained severe damage and the value of the damage is being assessed. The cause of the initial fire is under investigation and the Oregon State Fire Marshal is currently on scene heading the investigation.

North Douglas County Fire & EMS was assisted by Oakland Rural Fire District, Bay Cities Ambulance, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Douglas Electric, Elkton Rural Fire District, Sutherlin City Fire, and South Lane County Fire & Rescue.
