Construction Begins on State Funded Seismic Rehabilitation
In 2018 the North Douglas County Fire & EMS Administration and Board
of Directors started reviewing the effects a large-scale seismic event
would have on their Emergency Service Buildings. The Fire District had a
Seismic Assessments performed on Station #1/Administration Building
located in Drain. In October of 2018 the Fire District reviewed the reports
of the Seismic Assessment and found that the building was in need of major
seismic upgrades.
In late 2018 the Fire District applied for the Oregon Seismic
Rehabilitation Grant. The Seismic Rehabilitation Grant Program is a
state of Oregon competitive grant program that provides funding for
the seismic rehabilitation of critical public buildings, particularly
public schools and emergency services facilities. It is one of the
infrastructure programs Business Oregon administers to help develop
livable and prosperous communities in addition to business development
services and programs. In the Spring of 2019 The Fire District
received news that they were one of the six Emergency Services
Organizations approved for the SRGP and would receive $2,085,267 in
funding.
In Fall of 2019 the fire district went out for RFP on a Construction
Manager/General Contractor. Ausland Group based out of Grants Pass,
Oregon was awarded the job out of three candidates. Construction is
set to begin the last week of May and be completed by Mid-October.
