CAPTION: Fire & Emergency Medical Service Five Year Operating levy
QUESTION: Shall North Douglas County Fire & EMS levy $0.99 per thousand, for five years: to provide adequate services, starting FY2023/2024?
SUMMERY: Currently North Douglas County Fire and EMS can not replace old worn out Fire Trucks and equipment without an operating levy. The operating levy would allow us to replace three worn out ambulances and one fire engine while allowing us to lower our annual vehicle maintenance costs. The $0.99 per thousand tax raised from this measure would be in effect from July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2028. The proposed rate will raise approximately $356,248 in 2023/2024, $366,935 in 2024/2025, $377,943 in 2025/2026, $389,281 in 2026/2027 and $400,959 for a total of $1,891,366. It would be restricted to general fund expenses. The estimated costs for this measure is an ESTIMATE ONLY based on the best information available from the county assessor at the time of the estimate.
