Barn Fire 5000 Eagle Valley Rd.

At 6:17am Thursday, June 27, 2019, North Douglas County Fire & EMS was dispatched to a report of a hay barn on fire in the 5000 block of Eagle Valley Rd. in Yoncalla.

Fire crews arrived to a hay fire in the rear of the structure with heavy smoke and flames. Crews quickly contained the fire to the stacked pile and stopped any forward progress to the remainder of the building. Firefighters faced battles with heavy fuels and limited water supply and relied on water tender shuttling from multiple agencies to contain the fire while hay was being removed from the building to an open arena.

The fire ignited while welding trusses together during construction. Damage value is currently undetermined. No injuries were reported. North Douglas County Fire & EMS was assisted by Oakland Rural Fire District, Elkton Rural Fire District, Sutherlin City Fire, and the Douglas Forest Protective Association.
