Structure Fire Langdon Ln.

On June 4th at 7:05pm, North Douglas County Fire & EMS was dispatched to a report of a roof fire at 255 Langdon Lane in Oakland. Responding units were able to see smoke as far as the Yoncalla fire station. Crews faced extreme difficulties accessing the structure due to narrow roads and low clearance caused by trees. Fire crews immediately requested Oakland Rural Fire District for tender support and manpower. Later arriving units from North Douglas North Division and Oakland Rural Fire staged their engines at Red Hill Rd. and Langdon Ln., and walked nearly a quarter mile to the structure. At 9:10pm the fire was knocked down, crews remained on scene mopping up hot spots until 10:58pm. The 97 year old structure was a complete loss and displaced one occupant, American Red Cross was contacted to assist the homeowner. The fire is believed to have started from embers from a nearby slash fire. North Douglas County Fire & EMS was assisted by Oakland Rural Fire District, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Douglas Electric, and Douglas Forest Protective Association. A total of three engines, four tenders, one ambulance and 14 personnel responded to the incident.
