Brush Fire Green Valley Rd. Oakland


At 8:08pm May 27th, North Douglas County Fire & EMS South division was dispatched to out of control brush fire in the 6800 block of Green Valley Rd. in Oakland, in a mutual aid request by Oakland Rural Fire District. Oakland Rural Fire District and North Douglas County Fire & EMS were first to arrive on scene of two separate burn piles that were out of control moving towards heavy wooded timber. Oakland and North Douglas started the initial attacks while crews from Douglas Forest Protective Association, Fair Oaks, Kellogg, and Sutherlin were dispatched. Water tenders staged just over a mile away from the fire due to road conditions causing brush trucks to travel back and forth to fill up. The fires were knocked down at approximately 10:00pm, fire crews remained on scene for an additional hour knocking down hot spots. The scene was turned over to Douglas Forest Protective Association
