Back to back Natural Cover Fires

At 0202 May 10th, North Douglas County Fire & EMS was dispatched to a controlled burn that had gotten out of control in the 1700 block of Old Homestead Dr. in Oakland. Fire crews responded with two brush trucks and one water tender with five personnel. As crews responded Douglas County 911 Dispatch notified crews that the owner of the property regained control of the burn piles but still requested fire crews to continue. Fire crews assisted the property owner in containing the fire. At 0349 fire crews were dispatched to a second natural cover fire in the 7000 block of Hayhurst Rd. in Drain. A controlled burn had escaped and was burning approximately ½ of an acre. One brush truck from Old Homestead Dr. was released and responded to Hayhurst as additional crews from North Douglas County Fire & EMS as well as Douglas Forest Protective Association responded. Fire crews were able to knockdown the fire within minutes of their arrival.
