

Start your firefighting and EMS education early with our entry program that is structured to provide an education to enable teenagers to advance into an exciting career.
The North Douglas County Fire & EMS Explorer Program provides opportunities for teenagers, ages 14 to 17, in becoming familiar with career opportunities available in the fire service.
Through classroom instruction, hands-on training, and volunteer work, Explorers are provided a base of knowledge and experience that will benefit them not only in fire service careers, but also in all future endeavors. The program is designed to encourage and promote accountability, being safe, communication, teamwork, fitness and develop leadership skills.

The Explorer Program is designed to provide teenagers with a basic understanding of the fire service and to prepare them for future professional advancement opportunities such as Resident/Volunteer Firefighting, College Level Fire Science Programs and EMT/Paramedic Programs.
Requirements:

Explorers must be 14-17 years of age.

Explorers must be enrolled in school.

Participate in community outreach and recruiting events.

Must live in the North Douglas County Fire & EMS district.

Willingness to make improvements and show self motivation.

Explorer drills are every Friday from 9:30am-11:30am at our Yoncalla station.
Explorers are also welcome to attend regular drills every Tuesday night from 6:45pm-8:30pm at our Drain station.
