Chief - Ike Shannon
Chief Ike Shannon was born and raised in Eugene Oregon until the age of 12, when he moved to Junction City. Chief Shannon attended Linn-Benton Community College. In February 1998, he was hired on part time with the department, and in 2007 was named Chief. Chief Shannon likes to spend his free time wood working, scuba diving, and riding his motorcycle (nice weather only).
Assistant Chief - Mike Grimes
Assistant Chief Mike Grimes grew up in Southern California but spent summers on his grandparents ranch just west of Drain. Mike has been with the department for 33 years and became the volunteer Assistant Chief in 1993. In 1997 he was hired on part time as Assistant Chief and later became full time in 2015.
Office Manager - Shirley Pilley
Shirley was born in Cottage Grove and raised in Drain where she currently lives with her husband and Scottie Dog. Shirley volunteered at the department and assisted her husband Rance in the early 70's and was an EMT from 1990 until 2009. She was hired in 2005 as the departments full time Office Manager. Shirley likes crafting and quilting in her free time.
Tanner has with the department eight years, and the last three as a full time employee. He attended Umpqua Community College and graduated with an Associates Degree in Applied Science in Paramedicine. He currently lives in Drain where he grew up and attended High School. Tanner likes Mountain Biking, drumming, camping and spending time with his son and family in his free time.
Darren grew up in Scottsburg Oregon and currently lives in Roseburg with his wife and two kids. He attended Umpqua Community College and graduated with an Associate’s in Emergency Medical Service. Darren has been with the department for eight years, with three of them being a part-time Medic. Darren likes to spend his free time woodworking, fishing, hunting, shooting, and spending time with his family.
Brett joined the fire department when he was 15 years old and is entering his 15 th year of service with our organization. He was born and raised in the Yoncalla area and loves to help the North County community any way that he can. He went to Umpqua Community College and graduated with his Associate of Applied Science degrees in Fire Science and Paramedicine in 2010. Brett also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in History and a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education, as he also is certified to be a high school Social Studies teacher. Brett currently works as a full-time paramedic, fire captain, and is our new EMS captain who oversees all of our EMS operations. He enjoys biking, hiking, watching football, traveling the country and the world, doing puzzles, and cooking in his free time. His lifelong goal is to visit all seven continents and visit all 50 states.
